A single-vehicle crash caused one lane of U.S. 15-501 to be shutdown near Red Branch Road outside of Carthage.

According to Troopers, the driver of a Ford F-150 was heading to a doctor appointment when he likely had a medical episode. That caused him to veer off the right side of the highway and into a drainage ditch.

Carthage Fire & Rescue said the man was able to get out of the truck before they arrived at the scene. The driver was transported to the hospital for observation.
