A juvenile was shot in Southern Pines on Sunday afternoon, according to the Southern Pines Police Department. The shooting took place in Brookside Park Apartment complex near Morganton Road Sports Complex.

Moore County EMS responded to the scene, but was cancelled after the victim reportedly was arrived at the emergency room in a private vehicle.

SPPD Deputy Chief Charles Campbell confirmed to Moore County News the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

“This was not a random act of violence and is still an active investigation,” Campbell said.
