The quick response from Pinehurst Fire & Rescue prevented flames from moving to a house on Saturday.

A grill at a residence in the 1800 block of Longleaf Drive East caught fire just before 5 p.m. and spread to a porch nearby.

Firefighters reported that smoke could be seen from N.C. Highway 211, and they were able to knock down the flames quickly once on scene.

No one was injured during the fire, but the family’s dog, a black lab, did get loose during the incident. It is unknown if the dog was found at the time of publication.

Southern Pines Fire & Rescue also responded to the scene.
